An individualized plan for the jawline, midface and neck

A deep-plane face and neck lift repositions the deeper supporting tissues of the face rather than relying only on skin tension, aiming for a refreshed appearance that preserves your individual features. Dr. Telman Arakelyan plans every case around your own anatomy.

Concerns commonly addressed

  • Loss of jawline definition and lower-face laxity
  • Jowling and descent of the cheek tissues
  • Loose neck skin or visible neck bands
  • Deepening folds around the mouth
  • Facial imbalance related to volume loss or limited chin projection

How your plan is built

Your assessment reviews skin quality, facial structure, neck anatomy, prior procedures, medical history and what matters most to you. Complementary options such as brow lift, eyelid surgery, fat grafting or chin augmentation may come up if they support better overall balance, never as a default add-on.

What the deep-plane technique means

Rather than relying on skin tension alone, the deep-plane approach lifts the face's deeper supporting layers together as one unit, helping create a smoother line from cheek to jawline to upper neck. Where needed, neck work can include the platysma muscle and removal of tissue beneath the chin. How much surgery is right for you depends on your own anatomy and can only be confirmed through examination, not photographs.

Are you a candidate?

Good candidates are generally healthy adults with meaningful jawline or neck laxity who want their own features refined, not replaced. Smoking, unmanaged medical conditions, clotting disorders, prior facial surgery, certain medications, fillers or thread treatments can all affect your plan or timing, and a full medical assessment is required before any surgery date is confirmed.

Traveling to Yerevan for surgeryA preliminary virtual assessment is available before you travel. You will generally arrive in Yerevan before surgery for examination and preoperative testing. Surgery is performed in a hospital setting, followed by planned postoperative reviews. The recommended stay is individualized; many international patients are advised to remain in Yerevan for approximately 7–10 days.

Recovery after face and neck lift

Recovery is progressive rather than immediate. Swelling, bruising, tightness and temporary sensory changes are expected, and the pace of improvement varies with the extent of surgery, individual healing and any combined procedures.

First 24–48 hours

Hospital observation and early postoperative review are planned according to the procedure. Swelling, bruising and tightness are expected.

Days 3–7

Swelling and bruising may remain prominent. Gentle walking is encouraged while strenuous activity is limited. International patients generally remain in Yerevan for planned reviews.

Weeks 2–3

Visible bruising often improves and many patients resume low-demand or social activities, depending on recovery.

Weeks 4–6

Activity is increased gradually and exercise resumes only after surgical clearance. Scars may remain pink, firm or noticeable.

Months 3–6

Facial and neck contours become more refined as residual swelling resolves. Scar maturation continues for many months and varies between patients.

What a face and neck lift cannot correct

A face and neck lift repositions descended facial and neck tissues, but it does not correct every sign of ageing or every anatomical limitation.

  • Skin texture, pigmentation, sun damage or surface irregularities
  • Every deep static wrinkle or fine line
  • Eyelid ageing or brow descent unless separately assessed and treated
  • Volume loss that requires a separate strategy
  • Limited chin or skeletal projection
  • All facial asymmetry
  • Future ageing or permanent prevention of tissue descent

Adjunctive treatments may be discussed only when your anatomy and goals justify them.

Risks and limitations

Every operation involves risk. Possible complications include bleeding, infection, delayed healing, scarring, asymmetry, fluid collection, temporary or lasting sensory changes, hairline changes, skin injury, and temporary or permanent weakness of facial-nerve branches. Anaesthetic and thromboembolic risks also require consideration. Consultation determines whether the expected benefit justifies these risks for you individually.

Will the result look pulled?

The plan aims to restore tissue position without excessive skin tension. No technique can guarantee a particular appearance; realistic expectations are discussed using clinical examination and photographs.

Where are facelift scars placed?

Incisions are generally placed around the ear and within or near the hairline. Scar quality varies and continues to mature for many months.

Can this be combined with eyelid or brow surgery?

Combined surgery may be appropriate when several areas contribute to facial ageing. The safest and most balanced plan is determined after medical and anatomical assessment.

Is a virtual assessment enough to confirm surgery?

Photographs and video consultation provide a preliminary assessment. Final recommendations depend on in-person examination and preoperative evaluation in Yerevan.
